There are three main reasons someone may be hesitant to perform CPR:
Recognize the Signs
Not recognizing CPR is needed. If a person is unconscious and breathing abnormally, even if it’s a suspected drug overdose, begin CPR.
Get Trained
You’re not trained and you worry you might hurt the person. But it’s better to help than do nothing. Don’t be afraid to apply pressure.
Build Confidence
For family members, assisting in an emergency is stressful. Some people report they “freaked out”.
For COMPREHENSIVE CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION and first-aid classes, turn to Govan CPR & FIRST AID which services are offered NATIONWIDE. The following programs are available to be offered at your organization. The CPR AND FIRST AID PROGRAMS may be provided on the same day or separately. THE PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE DURING THE DAY OR EVENING MONDAY-FRIDAY. SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS ARE AVAILABLE AS WELL, UPON REQUEST. Each program is approximately 3-4 hours.
